If you believe in your own beauty and goodness, you’ll radiate that energy, and that’s how the world will perceive you. And if some don’t, it really doesn’t matter.
This past Sunday, I participated in an interesting (primarily women’s) panel. We discussed female beauty, imposed standards, aging, self-love, and more.
At one point, when our host Marianne asked us what or who embodies a beautiful woman for us, suddenly an image from the day before flashed before my eyes, from Saturday’s birthday celebration.
My friend Denise celebrated her sixtieth birthday this Saturday on a beautiful estate near Denver. It was a sunny day, with a perfect green lawn, plenty of pink flowers, wooden cottages, and a shaded table set for 15 women, Denise’s friends. Most of them were around 60 years old. I knew only a few of them beforehand; the rest were strangers to me.
However, this gathering vividly demonstrated the essence of a beautiful woman to me. Because each and every one of them was truly beautiful! Not because they dressed up particularly for the occasion, but because of how they radiated.
Peace and balance
All of these women had an inner peace, a sense of balance, relaxation, and openness. Despite not knowing each other, we easily established connections as if we had known each other forever. We shared our life stories with one another. From all of these women, a simple and natural joy of life radiated, with a clear understanding of what matters and what doesn’t. They have experienced a lot and concluded that worrying is not worth it. Nor is being self-conscious. Or procrastinating. Or clinging to anything too tightly. They have developed relaxation and tolerance, both towards others and themselves. And a love for themselves just as they are, with an awareness of their own value.
None of them looked like advertisements for Botox or cosmetic surgery. On the contrary – they carried their minor imperfections with a smile. And with a clear understanding that they are beautiful and good just as they are.
Being among such women is delightful. There was a lot of warmth and love at that table because when you find your inner balance and stop burdening yourself with anything, you spontaneously connect with others through joy and warmth. Playful, colorful, witty, wise, and brave – these were the beautifully radiant women around me. And our celebrant’s sincere smile showed how her heart was filled with all that beautiful energy and love.
We added horseback riding to Denise’s 60th birthday celebration. Just as if we were 30. Who cares about age anyway?
In their own way
So, everything I’ve described is the embodiment of a beautiful woman for me. It would be great for us women to discover the secret of inner peace, joy, and freedom long before reaching 60. For girls and young women to truly believe in themselves and love themselves, dismissing trends. Not to try to “fit in” or stand out with their beauty, but to simply enjoy themselves and life, in their uniqueness and diversity. To allow themselves to bloom – in their own way.
Because if you believe in your own beauty and goodness, you’ll radiate that energy, and that’s how the world will perceive you. And if some don’t, it really doesn’t matter.
Be yourself, follow your heart, do what makes you happy, relax, and you’ll radiate an irresistible beauty!
