When we purchase a new bottle of cooking oil, we often instinctively pull off and discard the protective cap located beneath the main cap, but it turns out we might be doing it all wrong.
Many believe that it’s just a piece of plastic designed to prevent oil from spilling during transport to the store, yet apparently, that’s not the proper way to handle it.
The protective cap actually serves a very useful purpose when you take the oil off the shelf and bring it home, as revealed by @chaldomom, a TikTok user.
As they explain, this cap is designed for slow and controlled pouring of oil. Once you pull it out and remove it, you should flip it upside down and put it back into the bottle – the oil will then flow through a small opening, allowing you to perfectly measure it while preparing your meals.
